Applying for College (Open)

Everyone needed to eat. This was even moreso for Elena. Now that she and Damon had gotten back together she found things were falling into a pattern that she liked. There was no more worry that she was on her own or struggling to fit into a world that no longer wanted her in it. She could be herself and she was starting to get a handle on being a vampire. She wasn’t there by a long shot but with determination and friends to help her she would make it through.
Still, for all the paranormal curve balls she’d been given schooling needed to be done and there was no avoiding it forever. If she wanted to get into college and work on becoming a doctor she had to get serious about school. She’d managed to do well on her SAT’s but there was still her senior year to get through and college entrance essays to work on. Witmore was local but it didn’t mean she could get off and be slack with her entrance essay. She wanted to go there it was a matter of family pride, granted her family wouldn’t approve of her being a vampire but it was a way to stay close to home and be with her friends a little while longer till she could move on to medicine.
Even a vampire needed a skill set. Damon and Stefan had her beat by over a hundred years. She had a lot of catching up to do. She wanted to be an equal not just someone that hung on Damon for emotional support. She’d been very lucky that her parents had done well with investing, she had a college fund and so did Jeremy if he chose to use it. She worried that he wouldn’t, but it was still there for him regardless. All this thinking wasn’t getting her anywhere and she needed to at least appear human, so she went to the Grill to get a cheeseburger and fries. Her netbook was over her shoulder in its bag and it didn’t take long before she was typing away her Cover Letter for entrance to Witmore College. Periodically she stopped and sipped at her coke or nibbled on a fry just like the other kids that were there. She’d worn jeans and a long red shirt with a jean jacket in order to keep up the appearance of a normal teen. She didn’t feel the cold any more and the weather didn’t bother her as it once had.
