Elena liked to go shopping; it made her feel human and reminded her of happier time. It reminded her when she would go shopping with her mother and they would make a day of it. She’d even seen Tyler the last time she’d been out and about. Each time she went she learned something new. It wasn’t just about finding the right dress or the right pair of shoes but of making sure that the locals were doing well and that things in the town were alright.

As she got ready in the morning she thought about the route she wanted to take. She figured that she would catch lunch at the Mystic Grill and then make her way to the shops. Once she decided what she would do she got up and began to get dressed.

It was a bit chilly out but she made sure she was wearing a few layers, a white camisole and burgundy pullover. She wore blue jeans and brown boots. Standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom she ran her straightening iron over her chocolate tresses, slowly and methodically. Her hair had a natural wave and she liked how the straightener left her hair straight and smooth. The motion was soothing and she thought back to how she and her friends would do each other’s hair and nails. She thought she’d pick up some nail polish and add more to their mani and pedi kits while she was shopping.

It took a short span of time for her to be ready, soon she was grabbing her jacket and heading out the door. Parking her car at the Grill she made her way to restaurant and took an open booth. She ordered a burger and some onion rings and a coke. In short order she was given her food and she nibbled on it as she texted friends and messaged them on facebook. She’d meet up with Damon later in the day after she was done shopping and they’d order pizza and watch something that they could both make fun of.

Stretching lightly she continued to eat her meal glancing about the room and speaking with the waitress to let her know the food was fine. That was one thing she loved about this town. Folks cared about each other and everyone knew everyone. It could be stifling but she really liked her friends and the fact that people looked in on each other. Soon enough she’d be working on applications to college again and she’d have to focus on those. A customer walked past her with a cut on his arm and she forced herself to focus on her food. She couldn’t let herself lose control here. She wasn't going to go get THAT kind of bite to eat. she took a bite of her burger and forced herself to focus on it; the type of mustard, the seasame seeds on the bun and the remnants of the pickles that she had removed and placed to the side.

Small towns, the seeming dance of life that would spread across everything. This one, however, seemed rather...different. The feel of it held some interesting toss about. Most of all had she not been busy tearing apart some demons or playing her little chase game with them. She would have probably visited this place earlier.

There were a few things she was interested in. One, there was seemingly a few witches in the area. Let alone the transition of other activities. How reliable was the information, well that would come down to how much she honestly cared about such things? Her blue eyes looked out of the black limo that pulled towards one of the grills that were about. She didn't care too much about the idea of eating at a high-end restaurant. If she was honest, she didn't eat anyways. Nor....did she do much else in the human form of things. However, she was well aware of the ramifications if it didn't seem like she was human. She didn't need to destroy an entire town or vaporize some demons in order for her to get what she needed at this moment and all she really had to do was pretend she was human. Eat, sleep and more and it was fine. They looked past the markings too, seeing it like a passage to become the CEO. Most of the people were too scared to offer themselves up to take the test anyway. Not that she'd let them live, she'd just kill them. They are not worthy hosts as it was. Anastasia was, and she still is.

She stretched her legs, pushing her blond hair back before adjusting her top a bit and then with a light push on the door she stepped out of the limo. Looking to the others whom she just nodded to. They looked at her as if taking her silent order to stay there for the moment. She didn't need to have the entire force of useless humans coming with her into the bar and grill. She merely would let them eat later when they would get to the hotel. She was more on the lines wanting to try out this lovely little area...err she meant food yah that's what she meant. She stepped into the building, pushing lightly on the door as she walked past a man. She was aware that she probably seemed rather odd, standing at around 5 feet tall she wasn't close to tall at all. But, of course, that didn't matter. She could cleanse the annoying filth from this place....no no, that's not the way she needed to be right now. She walked forward for a moment. Before stopping.

"So, where do I order food?" She asked aloud, it was better at times to be well honest maybe. Either way, the reaction was something that made her almost laugh. Not so much embarrassed at the fact she essentially just demanded someone to give her some information. More at the reaction so many of its current clients gave her. Her face reeled into a twisted smile for the moment.

The Grill was the place everyone went when they wanted to find out information on how the town was doing. It was the place to celebrate or just to chat with old friends and new. It felt like every milestone had been celebrated at the Grill. Report cards, grade school graduations, junior high advancement and school dances. It had all been here that they had gone to celebrate.

There had also been sadness here. People had died, the place had been damaged and repaired what seemed like a million times over and yet it still thrived. There was that sense of permanency and it was comforting. Her parents were gone. Jer was off doing his own thing and she had just decided it was time to get out of the house and see other people.

The newcomer stood out like a sore thumb. She couldn’t say what was different until she heard the other woman speak. She knew that she needed to intervene before something happened.

“The waitress will be along shortly, until then would you like to sit down?” Elena said, rising and beckoning her towards where she was sitting. Elena was wearing blue jeans, her red converse and a dark purple three quarter sleeved shirt. Her hair was long and was slightly curled on the ends. Her makeup was more natural and not as showy as it might be during a big event. “My name is Elena. I’ve got a menu you can look at to order food from.”

She said to the newcomer. Her smile was genuine and her face kindly as she tried to interact with the strange woman. Elena was protective of the people in her town. They had been through so much, the last thing she wanted was for them to get hurt. That was the same for any newcomer who entered this place. New people needed to be protected from the beings that might hurt them as well. That was why she was here speaking with the blond woman.

She followed the lady. Annoying as it was it was finally answered. Eh, humans were just something of an annoyance...but then again the cursed beings of the world would forever linger around her too. She looked over the others more as she took a seat. The woman was taller than her. Though that wasn't too hard being she wasn't a tall vessel for sure. She looked across the table and kept her blue gaze locked onto the woman before her.

Brown hair, seemingly brown eyes. She was merely taking in this being before her. That and plus she wasn't really caring too much about this entire local to much. Though maybe she would make a move to inquire about other parts of the town. For all, she knew she could use it as a business center of some sort. Maybe make a club here. She grinned once more. and after the pause decided to answer her by nodding.

"Oh, a pleasure to meet you, Elena. My name is Rakiel. I'm quite pleased to have met you it seems. Hmm, waitress huh? Well, I guess I should look into what they are serving in this establishment for sure then." She stated with a slight nod. "Though if you don't mind me asking, I have a few questions I'd love to ask you about this area!" She stated. Not once had her grin vanished. She merely kept her blue gaze on the young woman before her. Shifting herself a bit in the seat while her arms folded in front of her on the table itself. She was willing to see what this woman knew. I mean, sure she could just so easily burn this town to ash...no that would be foolish to think. Maybe they had other means here. Maybe some would live. It would be problematic. That and with someone showing kindness without any real..desire to get a deal out of it. She could hear out some things. And of course maybe even make this place another zone for a part of her corporation. Expansion into different fields would be important.

This woman was odd. There was no other word for it. She spoke almost in third person and didn’t know the basics of eating at a restaurant? This did not bode well and Elena suddenly wished that the Grill was empty completely and she could just speak to this woman one on one and finding out what brought her here.

She would just have to see if this woman continued to want to pretend to be normal or if she did something. Elena kept smiling and nodded, “I’m happy to meet you, Rakiel. What sort of questions do you have?” she asked her as the waitress came and brought her a menu, “What would you like, Miss?” the waitress asked as she glanced over at Elena and smiled, “Your usual, Elena?” She asked her knowing her from school and the usual order she would place.

Elena nodded and waited for Rakiel to look the menu and decide what she wanted. Customers ordered food around them and chatted quietly with one another. The community around them did the usual thing of joking around and spending time with each other. Boyfriends and girlfriends flirted, children squirmed in their chairs and drank milkshakes, football players joked amongst themselves.

Just an ordinary day if you didn’t realize Elena was a vampire and could hyper focus on things and people. She had learned enough not to do it unless needed but she was protective of the people in this town even if she had a complex history with them. She was glad that she hadn’t permanently damaged her friendships and connections and she would work to make sure that they were maintained, and people were safe. Vampires were known to be territorial and she had to admit that it was part of why she was on alert about this stranger.
