Everyone needed to eat. This was even moreso for Elena. Now that she and Damon had gotten back together she found things were falling into a pattern that she liked. There was no more worry that she was on her own or struggling to fit into a world that no longer wanted her in it. She could be herself and she was starting to get a handle on being a vampire. She wasn’t there by a long shot but with determination and friends to help her she would make it through.

Still, for all the paranormal curve balls she’d been given schooling needed to be done and there was no avoiding it forever. If she wanted to get into college and work on becoming a doctor she had to get serious about school. She’d managed to do well on her SAT’s but there was still her senior year to get through and college entrance essays to work on. Witmore was local but it didn’t mean she could get off and be slack with her entrance essay. She wanted to go there it was a matter of family pride, granted her family wouldn’t approve of her being a vampire but it was a way to stay close to home and be with her friends a little while longer till she could move on to medicine.

Even a vampire needed a skill set. Damon and Stefan had her beat by over a hundred years. She had a lot of catching up to do. She wanted to be an equal not just someone that hung on Damon for emotional support. She’d been very lucky that her parents had done well with investing, she had a college fund and so did Jeremy if he chose to use it. She worried that he wouldn’t, but it was still there for him regardless. All this thinking wasn’t getting her anywhere and she needed to at least appear human, so she went to the Grill to get a cheeseburger and fries. Her netbook was over her shoulder in its bag and it didn’t take long before she was typing away her Cover Letter for entrance to Witmore College. Periodically she stopped and sipped at her coke or nibbled on a fry just like the other kids that were there. She’d worn jeans and a long red shirt with a jean jacket in order to keep up the appearance of a normal teen. She didn’t feel the cold any more and the weather didn’t bother her as it once had.

There were so many decisions that were to be made about their future, one of the things about the future, was that Bonnie never saw herself having one.The things their group had been through it was a wonder the ones left alive were even able to do so. She could have died a million times over, and would do it all again if it meant that it would keep those close to her safe. Elena, Caroline, Matt hell even Damon and Stefan were her family and she knew that she was the strongest of all of them but with that strength comes with a price.

One she had paid many times and would never stop paying. These thoughts dragged on her morning walk when she realized it was now lunch time and she had came in front of the Grill. Better get some food and refuel before the next anxiety session hit. Pulling the handle and walking in, looking around she saw Elena. Smiling big she walked over and wrapped her arms around Elena standing behind her, then took a seat."Hey! Mind if I join you?"

Seeing her fries she grabbed one and popped it into her mouth groaning in satisfaction at the taste, nothing beat the food from the Grill. Maybe it was that good or it was the comfort of the familiar but she wasn't going to complain."Ok is it just me or is the food getting better? Get a new cook or something?". The waitress came over and she ordered,"I'll have exactly what she's having thanks". She then grabbed another fry and ate it the crunch oh so satifsying.

Setting her bag down and taking off her coat slinging it on the back of the chair, she relaxed in her spot. There was nothing better than this.

when i see your smile

Elena could tell Bonnie was there before she saw her. That was the benefit of vampiric senses. She knew a lot about a person before they’d even had time to open their mouth. When Bonnie hugged her she smiled and nodded gesturing to the place across from her and chuckling as Bonnie stole her fries. This is what friendship was all about. Knowing someone so well that you could steal the fries off their plate and still have a running conversation going. She shifted in her seat to keep up her human seeming, vampires could remain stock still if they chose and it could unnerve people, so she made a point to do the things she’d always done.

“I think it’s a new cook and he changed the oil on the fries. The other guy didn’t change out the oil enough.” She wrinkled her nose as she thought about how disgusting the fries had tasted for a short span of time. Only a vampire would have noticed but it didn’t mean it wasn’t gross. Elena had standards after all and she was glad the cook had gone off to college, so they could get someone new in. The fact that the kid survived had been a miracle in itself. Mystic Falls was hard on everyone that lived there. It was a focal point for a lot of supernatural issues and it hadn’t stopped just because the Mikealsons had left.

The waitress nodded, “A cheeseburger, fries and a coke got it. You want any sides?” she asked as she picked up the menus and smiled. The waitress’s blonde hair was up in a pony tail and although she was tired she knew that Elena and Bonnie tipped well so she made a point of standing up straight and smiling.

Elena turned the netbook towards Bonnie brushing her chestnut mane over her shoulder as she did so. “How does this sound for an entrance letter for Witmore College? I hate writing these things because they make me sound so pathetic but colleges love when you triumph over adversity so…” she let her voice trail off. Coming back from being dead was the ultimate triumph over adversity but she couldn’t exactly put THAT in her letter.
